Quality of Traffic
The goal is to attract users who are genuinely interested in whatever your site has to offer.
If a search engine is telling users that you’re the best baseball distributor in all fifty States, but you’re really a soap manufacturer, this isn’t quality traffic. You want to attract the users who wish to learn about or purchase your product.
Quantity of Traffic
When it comes to SEO, the more traffic, the better. But how do we get that traffic?
Why, great content!
Content is Everything
Great content encourages users to keep clicking. To keep coming back.
It encourages users to link to your websites and shows the search engine that your site is
Interesting and authoritative in the online world. Great content leads to search engine success.
Search engines are constantly striving to improve their performance by providing reliable results. Results that are easy to use, easy to navigate and easy to understand.
Content must also provide direct and relevant information to the search engine, while also maintaining a professionally designed interface that will catch the attention of the user and still be accessible to modern browsers. The goal is to always deliver very high quality, credible, interesting and legitimate content.
Even with all of the technological advancements we’ve had in the last several years, search engines still cannot view or understand text, video or pictures the way humans can.
Search engines rely heavily upon meta information to give them insight into how users interact with sites and pages. This gives the search engine a way to discern the quality of your pages and your site.
Ads make up a significant portion of many search engine results pages or SERPS.
Organic traffic, in other words, is any traffic that comes from SERPS that you don’t have to pay to receive. Kind of handy, isn’t it? We think so. The goal for most marketers is to increase their organic traffic. Organic traffic goes hand-in-hand with Search Engine Optimization. It stands to reason that the better you are ranking with competitive keywords, the more organic traffic will result. Content is also important when we’re talking about organic traffic. Not only because we want quality of traffic, but also because we want quantity of traffic. The more frequent your content, the more organic traffic you’ll receive. In other words, keep that great content coming!
But What is SEO?
Search Engine Optimization or SEO is the process of driving “organic” or non-paid traffic to your site. The process is actually a little more simple than you might think. The very first thing we do is try to figure out what people interested in your products type into search engines.
But how do we do that? How do we narrow down what exactly people are searching for?
Quite simple, actually. The answer is that we have databases that hold all of that information and we have access to them.
Next, we look for common search terms. Things lots of people look for on the web.
If a search term is used multiple times, it is more likely to drive traffic to your site.
The quality of your site is then compared to the other sites coming up in the search.
And again, your content is key. It’s difficult to rank above well-established sites. However, all we have to do is make sure the important parts of your content uses the keywords we want to rank for in the search engine and then get other sites to link to your site.
Getting people to link to your site is very important. Mainly because search engines conclude that if other sites are linking to your site, your content must be helpful and important.
It’s like getting a recommendation.
Let’s say for a few minutes that you are asking for your friends’ opinion on a new seafood place in town. Two of the ten friends that respond tell you not to even bother trying it out, but the other eight tell you not to waste another minute talking about it and just go eat. Most people would be more likely to trust the eight who said it was delicious. If you end up liking it, chances are you’ll tell your friends. And then you can keep spreading the word about how awesome it was!
Links are the same way. If someone finds your content helpful and reliable, they’re more likely to link to it. The more links you get, the higher your ranking in Google.
